God | Life | My Craft

Sometimes I write about my walk with God, sometimes it’s about my life. Other times though, I speak on the experience that eighteen years in the beauty industry has deposited into my life.

On Hearing God’s Voice

As someone genuinely wanting to serve God, wanting to abide in His will would be critical us, because we believe in Him, and our love for Him will l this deep desire within us to live a life that is pleasing to His heart. To know what is pleasing to God’s heart then finds us in this place where we want to know what’s pleasing to Him, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Getting to the place of knowing therefore means we find ourselves actively seeking for this certainty That we are in fact hearing God. Naturally and humanly so, we then find ourselves wanting to hear or see God, for direction, approval, disapproval or assurance that He is still with us.

I think this is a beautiful heart posture to live in, because it keeps us in a place of living to please God, and I have seen it act as a sort of protective grace in my life, because God honors this, and intervenes in ways that we can interpret, or recognize are Him answering, guiding or protecting us.

To date, I cannot yet say that I have, in an awakened state, audibly heard the voice of God. I have distinctly heard God’s voice in dreams. I will discern and know when I am being prompted to do a particular activity or task, because the desire to do it is backed by a powerful force that is beyond my will, and is sometimes something I wouldn’t think to do naturally. It sometimes makes absolutely no logical sense. I have had conversations come to me that answered prayers that I prayed a few hours before going about my day. At times, prayers that never left my lips audibly, but I’d been musing over it in my heart with God for some time have been answered in this way as well. I’ve had specific words ‘in my spirit’ for long periods of time, only to see it in an advertisement, a tv show, a billboard, in music, or social media posts to many times for them to be brushed off as random happenstance, but rather specific instructions, strategy or answers to prayer(s). I have spent time reading the Bible and known God was responding to a question, answering a prayer, or giving me instructions.

Do I believe that we can get to a place where we audibly hear God like we do our spouses or family’s voice distinctly, yes. Are there persons who experience this reality frequently, yes. I have learned that God speaks to us all in different ways, and that He is ALWAYS speaking. His desire is to have deep relationship with us, but sometimes we may not always be able to discern His voice.

As we continue to prioritize developing and cultivating a relationship with Him, aiming to pattern a consistent time and place(s) that we pray, worship, read the Word, it cultivates an atmosphere around us that invites God’s presence, and creates a force around us that facilitates relationship. It’s as though we can find ourselves in constant conversation and communion with God, and a reality where knowing God’s heart toward anything becomes progressively easier, because it’s as if we are actively training ourselves to be with Him always- abiding in Him.

As we grow, it’s great to ask God for signs and confirmation when we want assurance on something we’ve prayed about, or to be sure we are discerning accurately. We can ‘put out a fleece’, as Gideon did in Judges 6:36. He had heard God’s instructions after being visited by an angel, so he knew, yet even after such an encounter, he desired certainty, assurance and ease to his fear. Because sometimes when we finally do hear God, we need courage to combat the fear that can rise up in our humanity. I enjoy putting out fleeces!

What My Curriculum Actually Covers

FANM DJÉWI and Who I Serve

Nail prep determines how long the work holds. I walk through the exact steps I use before any product touches the nail plate.

The name is not decoration. I explain what it means, where it comes from, and why it shapes every decision I make in my practice.

Students ask what they will leave knowing. Here is the full breakdown of what I teach and the order I teach it in.
